Pesticides on Trial

On the 27th anniversary of the Bhopal disaster in India, anti-pesticide advocates are putting the six largest pesticide companies under the accountability spotlight. According to a press release from the North American branch of Pesticide Action Network (PAN), attorneys, witnesses and jurors will put the 'Big Six' -- Monsanto, Sygenta, Bayer, BASF, Dow and Dupont on trial for what PAN calls "their crimes against humanity.

PAN is sharing the testimonies of several of the trial's witnesses on YouTube to expose a wider audience to the violations of human rights to life, health and livelihood by these chemical corporations.

The agrochemical industry is valued at over $42 billion and operates with impunity while over 355,000 people die from pesticide poisoning every year, and hundreds of thousands more are made ill. In addition, pesticide corporations have put livelihoods and jobs in jeopardy, including, farmers, beekeepers and lobstermen.
